In the ongoing battle at the National Arts Club, the club is planning a countersuit against former president O. Aldon James, who is facing the club's board in a hearing January 23. The countersuit alleges that James owes the club around $3 million for misuse of club funds, artwork, and apartments. James, his brother, and their friend Steven Leitner still control six of the building's apartments, and those apartments have no leases or are being rented below market rate. Which definitely isn't part of the club's plan. [NYT; DNAinfo]
