Behold Glory of Third Street, The Leaning Tower of Gowanus!

New, 3 comments

Neighborhood blogger Katia Kelly of Pardon Me for Asking has turned up something rather troubling on Third Street in Gowanus, between Bond Street and the Canal. The decrepit townhouse at 123 Third Street has begun to separate from its neighbor and lean precariously over a lot currently used for parking. Unless someone wants to see a Prius—or worse, a Prius owner—crushed under this crumbling house, the city is going to have to do something more than issuing violations and fines. Funny thing is, the house was briefly on the market in 2010 in "as-is" condition for $449K. Not surprisingly, it failed to sell and PropertyShark has the owner as U.S. Bank National, who recovered it in foreclosure.
