The Seaport Museum is attempting to work out a deal with the city of Hamburg, Germany that would involve the loss of one of downtown Manhattan's most memorable shoreline skyline features: the merchant ship Peking. The museum cannot care for all of its aging vessels, so it is offering to transport the 100-year-old sailing ship back to Hamburg where it was originally built, if the city agrees to restore it.
