IvyGate: Village Restaurant Finally Takes Down Fake Ivy

New, 5 comments

Seasonal though an ivy-covered facade may be, there's no better gift Village preservationists could have hoped for than its removal from 47 West 8th Street, the former Rabbit in the Moon space. And the preservationists got their holiday wish! The Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation blog reports that the fake ivy has finally been removed, a delayed response to a Landmarks Preservation Commission ruling made last year that the ivy had to come down or be replaced with the real stuff. Preservationists just have one more wish: the removal of that faux-stone facade.
