The Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation is gearing up for January's five scheduled Community Board 2 meetings (Jan. 9th, 10th, 12th, 17th, and 18th) to discuss the NYU 2031 expansion plan. The group released a series of drawings that offer comparative views of NYU's proposed Mercer Street, Laguardia Place, and "Zipper" buildings in relation to the existing Washington Square Village and Silver Towers between West 3rd and Houston Streets. The two-dimensional drawings were a good choice by the GVSHP, because it's hard to dance around matters of scale in 2-D like one can through the use of perspective in a fancy three-dimensional rendering.
