City's Priciest Townhouse Rental Might Have NYC's Best Pool

New, 17 comments

Fully furnished, the newly-listed SoHo townhouse at 214 Lafayette Street will run renters $100,000 per month. Want it for the week? That'll be $50,000, please. Feeling cheap? How does $20,000 sound for the night? Yes, this 13,000-square-foot behemoth, a converted power station, is mightily expensive, but the high tariff includes some of the city's finest private amenities. The indoor swimming pool is particularly impressive, with underwater viewing portals and soaring space. The pool, and the rest of the house for that matter, were the setting for the 2008 Beyonce music video "Halo"—which made use of the cavernous living room and its 29-foot ceilings—and is currently available for film shoots. That's not surprising, given that the owner is horror director Marcus Nispel. Now for the serious business: Is this the single best private swimming pool in New York?
