Here's the best look yet at what 500 West 23rd Street, the 12-story rental building going up right next to the High Line, will turn out like. The rendering comes via Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel Architects (aka GKV Architects), designers of the 111-unit building, which developer Sam Zell snatched from the struggling Shaya Boymelgreen. The building will be finished in November 2011, and the facade, thanks for asking is "translucent glass set within an ornamental cast-in-place concrete frame."
Apartments will range in size from studios to 3BRs, and some will feature private terraces and washer/dryers. The building will also have "three common roof gardens featuring a roof lawn, outdoor furniture and cabanas for al fresco gatherings," and, based on the rendering, a superb view of architect Neil Denari's silvery HL23 spaceship across the street.
