Environmental Protection Agency officials today finally announced some dates for the long-awaited Gowanus canal cleanup: it's expected to start in 2015 and take 10 or 11 years. Polluters will foot the $300 million to $500 million cleanup bill. And in case anyone's been waiting for an official word on this: yes, the striped bass, white perch, and other Gowanus Canal-dwelling fish tested by the EPA are contaminated, so stop eating them, already!
