$9.75 Million Carnegie Hill House Keeps Hoping for Double

New, 1 comment

At least 135 East 91st Street (which also goes by 1380 Lexington Avenue) is persistent. The 5BR, 4.5BA, 5,500-square-foot townhouse was last seen on the market in 2008, when its price climbed as high as $12.5 million. (Before that, it sold in 2007 for $4.1 million and in 2002 for $1,485,714.) The house's Streeteasy page says it sold in 2008, when it was last priced at $8.5 million, but we don't see a deed recorded, so perhaps the deal fell through. That hasn't stopped the 1885 building, which appears to have been renovated before its last listing, from try, trying again?it's now asking $9.75 million. Architect Adam Weber originally designed the landmarked house for Jacob Rupert, who gave it to his daughter as a wedding present. Can't find that on a registry!
