On Buying, Post Asks "Why Bother?"

New, 28 comments

In their War on Buying, the Post just did a piece on how it's awesome to rent and stupid to buy. Their back up? An obviously biased broker they cite who says "I can show you Manhattan apartments, selling from $900,000 to $1.4 million, from one bedroom and up. You could also rent them for $2,000 to $2,500 monthly, or alternatively put up $200,000 to $300,000 or more as a downpayment -- and the carrying charges are going to run you between $2,000 to $2,500 a month. These are big numbers, so why buy?" Good point! [NYP]
