Icelandic financier/alleged scamster Jon Asgeir Johannesson and his wife Ingibjorg Palmadottir are known around Gramercy Park for the lawsuit filed against them by the tenants to whom they rented a 50 Gramercy Park North apartment. The tenants accused them of filling the apartment with a cheap Ikea kitchen and then dropping chewed-up chicken wings down from the duplex penthouse the Johannesson-Palmadottirs also owned upstairs. About that duplex penthouse: it turned out to be a problem, given that Johannesson paid off a $10 million mortgage for it after telling a judge he had no money. He tried to ditch the penthouse, but there were no takers at its $25 million asking price. Until Icelandic investor Eyjólfur Gunnarsson finally took mercy on his countryman, the Observer reports. Gunnarsson signed the $22 million deed for the apartment, filed today and listing the buyer as Mynni Ehf.
