New Lower East Side Hotel Imagines Its Target Audience

New, 4 comments

It feels like we only just figured out that the building going up at 139 Orchard Street/138 Allen Street was going to be an 80-room inn, the Allen Street Hotel. But the place has already topped out at 16 stories. Bowery Boogie not only has a shot of the building with flags flying from the just-reached top, but also stumbled on the architect's collection of renderings and blueprints. And it clues us in as to how the Allen Street Hotel plans to differentiate itself from its similar neighbors: this is the hotel for sweatshirt-clad hipsters who lose another little piece of their souls with each dive bar that disappears from the neighborhood. UPDATE: Images have been removed at the request of the architect.
