Times Square's Secret Garden; Prostestors Disturb Gramercy Park

New, 1 comment

MIDTOWN?You might know of the new Intercontinental New York Times Square Hotel on 44th Street and Eighth Avenue for its Shake Shack, porn-destroying and/or gruesome murder. But now you can also know it for its cool 1,500-square-foot "vest-pocket" park designed by the excellent Thomas Balsey Associates. Seen through the lobby, the courtyard features a metallic sapling cluster, LED lighting, boxwood hedges and a floating stone bench, creating a little bit of zen in Times Square. [CurbedWire Inbox]

GRAMERCY?Guess construction is humming along inside the former Parkside Evangeline on Gramercy Park South, because a tipster spotted the condo conversion's first union protest! "Loud verbal protesting currently going on. At least 30 tradesmen protesting against the the construction manager on the job, Flintrock Construction out of Mamaroneck." Arlene didn't tell them to keep it down? [CurbedWire Inbox]
