James Gandolfini, Lou Reed, Michael Stipe and their famous friends couldn't stop the Tower o' Garbage, but you know what might? An invisible line! Crain's reports that a judge has put a temporary restraining order on the construction of the Department of Sanitation's controversial garbage truck parking garage on Spring and West Streets just north of Tribeca in Hudson Square. You know, the one that recently got some basic cable airtime. The order was prompted by a lawsuit filed by the neighboring St. John Center, which disputes the property line of the site. Construction can't begin until the borders are set, and all sides will be back in court on March 11. The project's opponents hope the stalling might make officials reconsider a smaller building.
