Griffin Court Hits 15%; New Hotel Starts Driving Neighbors Crazy

New, 4 comments

HELL'S KITCHEN?Big news out of Griffin Court, and we're not talking about 15 minutes of reality TV fame. The building's developer, Alchemy Properties, has announced that the 95-unit condo development (actually two eight-story buildings linked by a large private courtyard garden) has reached the 15 percent sold mark, meaning the offering plan is now effective and buyers can close. Hooray for milestones! According to StreetEasy, prices in the building currently start at $625,000. [CurbedWire Inbox]

CENTRAL VILLAGE?Looks like construction is full steam ahead at the Gem Hotel Union Square at 52-54 East 13th Street, the long dormant an controversial project that made the rare Karl Fischer for Gene Kaufman architect swap. A tipster on the very residential block writes: "If Gene Kaufman and the Gem Hotel wanted to engender some goodwill in their new neighborhood, they wouldn't start the loud drilling and rock breaking before 8am. Everyone in the neighborhood hates them for this. It's incredibly disrespectful to the neighbors and neighborhood who are going to have to put up with the construction for the next few years."
