When Will David Wright's 'Ultimate Bachelor Pad' Hit the Market?

New, 2 comments

Given the financial turmoil surrounding the New York Mets in the wake of the Bernie Madoff unraveling, it makes sense that the organization would be looking to cut costs. For example, star third baseman David Wright, who bought a three-bedroom Flatiron District penthouse for $6.1 million back in 2006, has decided to downsize to a two-bedroom pad at the Upper East Side's Lucida?renting for $12,000 per month. In professional athlete terms, that's downright thrifty! But what gives?

Wright's full-floor 4,100-square-foot loft in the Infinity Flats on East 21st Street was customized to his liking, including a hot tub that had to be lifted by crane up into his spread. He told his interior decorator he wanted the condo to be "the ultimate bachelor pad," so maybe the 28-year-old Wright, who's still a bachelor (as far as we can tell), is ready for something a bit less manly? Nothing says maturity like settling down in the old fogeyville of the Upper East Side. Who gets dibs on his hot tub?

Wright is the latest athlete/celebrity to claim a pad in a building developed by Extell, though we kind of wish he was sharing an address with A-Rod instead of moving all the way across town. As for his new Lucida apartment, there is a $12,000-per-month 2BR listing up on Elliman's website. We're not sure this is the same apartment leased by the slugger, but here's a look inside, and at the some of the fitness-heavy Lucida's amenities spaces. The apartment sold for $2.65 million last month.
