When word came that The Residences at The Williamsburg is now ready for move-ins, we knew it was only a matter of time before the boutique hotel portion of this fancy fortress near McCarren Park?dubbed the Hotel Williamsburg?would be ready to rock. And, kaboom, the hotel will be opening in May. The condo/hotel has been getting a lot of attention for its overt attempt at bringing a little Meatpacking District flava to Brooklyn, and the press release sure does lay the MePa vibe on thick. For example, "Destined to be one of the most talked-about spots of the summer in New York City, Hotel Williamsburg will spark a new era of Brooklyn luxury and will cater to a crowd of tastemakers, VIPs and locals alike." Read on at your peril.
We don't typically run press releases, but heck, who isn't fascinated by this? Brace, 'Burg:
Designed by Studio Gaia and architect Gene Kaufman, Hotel Williamsburg will incorporate a veritable ‘dream team’ of local Brooklyn purveyors in its amenities line––including chocolatiers, cheese mongers and designers. The hotel has just signed on with New York City apothecary Malin+Goetz to provide the in-room bath amenities. Keeping with its downtown cool charm, the hotel will offer an imaginative assortment of in-room offerings––such as a Crosley record player with a record rental station in the lobby. Additional property stand-outs include a roof top bar with tri-borough views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens; an outdoor pool/bar for hotel guests with an option for seasonal membership for non-guests; a restaurant serving “urban rustic” fare with a NYC chef at the helm; and bespoke cocktails by Alchemy Consulting.
With this craziness off Bedford and the MePa scene at the end of 14th Street, it sounds like the L Train is about to become a models-and-bottles nightlife shuttle service. Maybe the L Train Rat should start dealing nose candy to feed his rat babies.
