Big Midtown Retail Space Hits the Market; Uptown Sales Report

New, 1 comment

MIDTOWN?It was a long slog for the glassy new tower at 885 Sixth Avenue, formerly known as Tower 111 and now going by The Continental, but things are heating up. The luxe rentals are on the market, and now Massey Knakal has announced it's seeking retail tenants for the big base of the building. Will this prime corner, at West 32nd Street, get something that will class the neighborhood up? Not that we're not fans of the Manhattan Mall... [CurbedWire Inbox]

HARLEM & ENVIRONS?We're well into 2011, but industry folks can't stop talking about 2010. Investment property sales firm Ariel Property Advisors just issued a 2010 Northern Manhattan Condominium Report, and here are some fun findings: "Transaction volume jumped 44 percent in 2010, as 437 properties traded compared to 303 in 2009...The price per square foot averaged approximately $537 in 2010, a 6.6 percent decline from 2009...Sales prices in the second half of 2010 actually increased because several high-end developments on Frederick Douglass Boulevard began selling out. Some buildings consistently achieved prices over $675 or even $700 per square foot." [CurbedWire Inbox]
