The Heat is On

New, 5 comments

As expected, the City Council has officially passed the Heat Enforcement for All Tenants Act (HEAT, heh). Just in time for, er, March. The bill raises fines for landlords who repeatedly violate heat laws. Others don't have to worry, according to Council Member Erik Martin Dilan: "If you're a good landlord...the bill won't affect you at all. But if you're looking to not live up to your responsibilities, you're going to pay the price.” The bad apples are publicly called out here. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]
