Gov. Cuomo has been largely silent on the topic of NYC rent stabilization, but yesterday he said he would "like to extend and expand" the soon-to-expire rent control laws. When asked to elaborate, he said, "That's part of the negotiations." But don't get too excited just yet, because the WSJ reports that Cuomo will not be adding rent-stab renewal to the budget due at the end of the month, as tenant groups and some politicians had hoped. He needs more time to chew it over, and the same thing goes for the proposed property tax cap. [NYP, WSJ; previously]
