The 2010 census results are in, and for those who've been eagerly awaiting the numbers (we know you're out there), NYC's population now stands at 8,175,133. That's a record, but not enough of a record for city officials, who were expecting numbers 2.6 to 2.8 percent higher. The city is still considering a legal appeal of the data, a tactic it last tried, unsuccessfully, in 1990. [NYT]
