It wouldn't be a new week without a fresh twist at endlessly troubled Upper West Side condo conversion The Apthorp, would it? The latest development: two dozen new violations against the developers from the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, according to the Times. That's in addition to the 39 violations already open at the building. So what's the trouble this time? A bunch of fire safety problems, including exposed wiring, a missing fire hose, and illegal doors and padlocks. Leave it to the Apthorp to get hit with fire safety violations on the anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. Surely there are less awkward commemorative tie-ins?
