The Times goes inside the regime of transportation commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan (J.S.K. to fans, evil mean psycho lady to enemies), who has overhauled the city's bike lanes and pedestrian spaces. She also, among other initiatives, worked on the proposed 34th Street makeover that was just trimmed down. The retailer was worried the plaza would make it too hard to move the Thanksgiving parade balloons. [NYT; Transportation Nation]
