Local politicians have started speaking up about the Timber Shed, the rundown structure in the Brooklyn Navy Yard's Admiral's Row that National Guard Bureau engineers say is too far gone to be preserved. The army needs to follow National Historic Preservation Act procedures before it can start work on the building, so the Navy Yard's CEO and local officials want the army to just give them access to the structure instead, and they'll do the fixing. Oh, and one other thing: they'd also like the $2 million that's been set aside for the repairs. [BK Paper]
