The Thing That Never Ate Gramercy Going Up for Auction

New, 6 comments

Back in 2008, developer Kaish & Taub made plans to gobble up Gramercy walk-up buildings to feed its 160 East 22nd Street, a planned 21-story condo project. But demolition stopped, and the Fortress of Solitude?which also planned a deck with a gym and outdoor pool?went into hibernation. It might stay there. The folks at PropertyShark tell us that the property is scheduled for foreclosure auction on March 30, when it will be hitting the block along with air rights to four neighboring properties. The lien amount is a whopping $46,059,195. Could what's next for this plot of land possibly be any weirder than what's already been proposed?
