Meryl Streep's Tribeca Neighbors Do Battle on the Open Market

New, 10 comments

Good God we love it when people in the same building put their apartments on the market at the same time. We especially love it when those apartments are in the same line. Ultimate deathmatch! That's precisely what's happened at 92 Laight Street, the tower portion of the two-building River Lofts complex in Tribeca, where Meryl Streep snagged a penthouse for just under $9 million. (Gwyneth Paltrow lives in the other wing.) Apartments #9A and #12A, both 2,666-square-foot 3BR/4BR condos, are trying their luck. Here's the twist: #9A, at $6.5 million, is actually asking more than its upstairs neighbor. Take a look around the Elliman listing for the pricier pad in the photo gallery above.

#9A is already on its second owner, who bought the apartment in 2008 for...$6.5 million. Upstairs, #12A has a slightly different history. This owner, banking big shot Matthew Salvner, bought it back in 2005 for $3.12 million, and is now seeking double, $6.35 million. Here are photos from the Halstead listing:

The floorplans may be the same size, but they haven't remained identical over the years. The differences are subtle, but they're there. We'd delve into them, but treating this like a game of Photo Hunt sounds way more fun. Point out the discrepancies in the comments! And yes, wise guy, we know they're flipped in different directions.
