Inside Williamsburg's Eco-Friendly House/Creative Activism Lab

All secrets have now been revealed at 174 Grand Street, the Williamsburg townhouse built according to Passive House standards (the ultimate in German-inspired energy efficiency!) by Brooklyn architecture firm Loadingdock5. Who lives behind the pink door? That would be Gabriel Grippo, aka GGrippo, whose "creative activism" designs are sold in the ground-floor shop. What does the Passive House look like inside? Bare and spare, with plenty of exposed pipes and ducts. Inhabitat took a tour, and has a huge photo gallery inside this funky Williamsburg newcomer. An explanation of the above: "The translucent partition creates a private zone for the resident couple." Kinky!
