Dock Street Dumbo Getting School; An East Village Historic District?

New, 4 comments

DUMBO?Some news out of the controversial Dock Street Dumbo project: developer Two Trees and the NYC School Construction Authority have finalized the agreement for the 300-seat school promised for the project. The developer will pick up the tab for the "core and shell" of the school building. There's still an appeal pending in one lawsuit against the larger Dock Street Dumbo project, but this is an indication that work on the long-planned condo might finally begin soon. EAST VILLAGE?Get excited, preservationists. Get very excited. The Landmarks Preservation Commission is considering an East Village historic district containing nearly 300 buildings in an area bounded by East 2nd and East 7th streets between First Avenue and the Bowery and 10th Street on the north side of Tompkins Square Park. The focus will be on the area's 19th-century residential buildings. The LPC will kick things off with an information session Tuesday. [CurbedWire Inbox]
