MADISON SQUARE PARK?Today in extremely large things dropped into public places: Move over, Park Avenue teddy bear, because here comes Echo! It's the work of Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, Mad Park News informs us, and it's a "giant fiberglass resin face of a young girl in a dream state and was inspired by both a real 9 year old and the Greek nymph Echo." Dang, we were hoping it was filled with chocolate. [Mad Park News]
UPPER WEST SIDE?What's new at the Apthorp? Lawsuits, mostly. But how are sales going? Well, reps sent out a press release today saying the building has done $25 million in sales since Corcoran Sunshine took over, and recent contracts have been "in excess of $2,200 per square foot." And what of the landmark's renovations? "A 6,500 square foot amenity suite is planned for completion later this year. It includes a private spa and fitness center with a complete circuit of weight training and cardio equipment, a separate yoga/exercise studio, two adjoining treatment suites with full bath, and a steam room and sauna. The entertainment suite will feature a catering kitchen and an integrated media system. The Apthorp will also have a children’s playroom. Attended East and West gatehouses and four residential lobbies, each with a doorman, and on-site parking complete the package." What, your building has just one doorman? Amateur hour.
