Jane's Carousel Gets Prepped; Atlantic Yards Doc to Premiere

New, 2 comments

DUMBO?Brooklyn Bridge Park's very active Twitter account pointed us to a cool photo set by Lauren Kelly showing the disassembling of Jane's Carousel, the restored antique whirligig owned by Jane Walentas, Queen of Dumbo. The carousel is bound for its new Jean Nouvel-designed home within Brooklyn Bridge Park. It's been living in a Water Street warehouse that's too narrow to allow for carousel rides. PROSPECT HEIGHTS?Not tired of the Atlantic Yard controversy yet? Then you'll be thrilled to know that Brooklyn's biggest boondoggle is bound for the big screen! Battle For Brooklyn, a documentary about the megadevelopment's controversial coming of age, will premiere at the Brooklyn Film Festival (natch) on June 9 3 at 8pm. It'll screen at Brooklyn Heights Cinemas. [CurbedWire Inbox]

MIDTOWN?Props to The Continental, the glassy 53-story rental tower that opened on Sixth Avenue near Madison Square Garden three months ago. The 338-unit building is now over 50% leased. Rents range from $2,960 to over $6,800. [CurbedWire Inbox]
