The Department of Buildings has ordered the Duane Reade at West 72nd Street and Broadway to take down its massive neon billboard, which shows ads 24/7, but Duane Reade doesn't have to do so until after a hearing on June 2. Which leaves Upper West Siders enough time to organize a protest against the sign for ruining the neighborhood. The protest will happen this Sunday afternoon, but since the sign is keeping the neighborhood from sleeping anyway, wouldn't a nighttime rally be a better use of time? [DNAinfo]
