Another spring means another drawn-out series of ridiculous Rent Guidelines Board hearings, where the mysterious group hears the pleas of landlords, the boos of tenants, and inevitably winds up raising the rent on stabilized apartments. This year, the Post reports, the RGB may raise rents over 3% for one-year leases and 6.5% for two-year leases to help landlords of the million-plus rent-stabilized apartments deal with rising costs. The looming expiration of rent regulations should heighten the drama?and by that we mean yelling?even more this year. Joy. [NYP]
