Signs Point to LIC Condo; NYU Opponents Decry Dog Run

New, 2 comments

LONG ISLAND CITY?Hey crowds of condo buyers spilling out onto 50th Avenue from the 7-train. Before you make your way over to the waterfront to check out all those new buildings, 1 Vernon Jackson has a message for you: Why not head over a block instead? We will salute this brilliant sign placement by rewarding the building with a link to its website. [CurbedWire Staff]

GREENWICH VILLAGE?Yesterday the Landmarks Commission approved NYU's plan to renovate the open space between I.M. Pei's Silver Towers, adding a dog run and playground. This came despite the protests of preservationists (who want to derail NYU's expansion plan), and today the GVSHP told its followers that the fight is not over: "The good news, however, is that the inappropriate location of the dog run and playground on this sensitive site may never come to pass; it is premised on NYU taking possession of public land on Mercer Street where the dog run and playground are now located so they can build there. Such a land deal must be approved by the City Planning Commission and City Council as part of NYU's gigantic twenty-year expansion plan application, and GVSHP (and many others) plan to fight that approval."
