After a year of talks, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney reached a deal to allow the Met to take over the Whitney's soon-to-be old Breuer building on the Upper East Side. The Met will essentially be leasing the space, paying the $3 million a year operating costs along with some extra money. They plan on housing a modern art museum in the space after the Whitney moves to its MePa location. [NYT; previously]
