Yesterday was opening day for the Aqueduct flea market, moved from Queens to Coney Island, and the early reviews are...not so good. Amusing the Zillion files a pretty thorough report: "Unfortunately the opening day event was dismal. It was not in any way 'like a state fair,' as hyped by the BK Festival management in advertisements, nor did it feature 'upscale product.'" AtZ's theory is that the flea market is part of a Thor Equities plan to get a variance for 10,000 square feet of retail space from the Board of Standards and Appeals. In the meantime, apparently the strollers on offer at the flea are nice? [AtZ; previously]
