It was an odd scene on the Bowery this weekend?but not too odd, because this is the Bowery, after all?as interior demolition of the iconic Amato Opera led to a parade of old props being hauled off. The opera house closed after 60 years of productions when Anthony Amato sold the building for $3.7M in 2009. A "bar/restaurant/theater experience" was approved for 319 Bowery, but nothing has been going on, until now. [Michael Maren via EV Grieve]
