In case you were all wondering where Tom Brokaw was headed after selling his 941 Park Avenue duplex for $10.75 million, it looks like we have an answer. The Observer is reporting that the Nightly News anchor just picked up a two bedroom co-op at 33 East 79th Street for $1,950,000. Are Brokaw and his wife downsizing because they want to use it as a pied-à-terre or is this the greatest downgrade in recent Upper East Side history. Since Brokaw is a likeable fellow, we're going to assume the former for the time being.
The Observer says the apartment "converted into a more modern and open five-room spread, though it still has its prewar flourishes, like a wood-burning fireplace and intricate molding. The master bedroom in the 11th-floor home is ringed with French doors, though they do not look out on the park. Along with the monochrome colors, it gives the place quite the big sky feeling."
