Grandma's Getting in the Way

The Daily News reports that NYCHA is looking into options to move around affordable housing residents who are occupying units larger than their needs. They claim that 45,000 units are "underoccupied" and 7,000 3-4 bedrooms have just one resident. This is in contrast with the 2,600 large families packed into smaller spaces. Hey, if NYCHA actually humanely lures the elderly out of their oversized units with subsidized private apartments, we see nothing wrong with a little rearranging. [NYDN]
