We can't help but feel a bit sorry for the owners of the penthouse at 17 West 64th Street. They clearly had high expectations for the sale of their nest when they listed it for $4.75 million in July 2009. And with Central Park views and the potential to build another room on top of the existing apartment, we can see where those expectations might have come from. Of course, the extra room and outdoor space promised in the listing don't actually exist yet, which might explain why the ask has been chopped all the way down to $3.6 million. What it doesn't explain: the foreclosure auction of the penthouse scheduled for May 16. The lien amount is $2.5 million, the folks at PropertyShark tell us.
