There's nothing like a little loft porn to jazz up a rainy Wednesday. Happily, there's a new listing at 84 Mercer Street that fulfills many of our loft criteria, even if it is in Soho rather than Tribeca. It's a 4,500-square-foot 4BR with 15' ceilings and eight cast iron columns. Then, to add a little something extra to the standard loft checklist, the apartment has its own theater screen. However, the ticket price is steep even by NYC standards: $7 million.
The listing is a fresh one, but the loft has tried to find a buyer before?at one point, for significantly less money. Last August, it was asking $5.995 million. A few months before that, a listing that had started out asking $7.75 million in 2008 had been chopped all the way down to $4.995 million. What makes the seller expect more now?
