Edgar Bronfman Jr. Buys PriceChopped Park Avenue Penthouse

New, 1 comment

The Upper East Side hasn't been quite the same since major dealmaker Edgar Bronfman Jr. left the neighborhood for London. But Bronfman's sale at a loss of his UES muppet mansion was a sort of misdirection: the Warner Music Group CEO and Seagram heir is actually coming back to the UES. The Observer hears that the Bronfmans have purchased a penthouse at 812 Park Avenue. Aside from the Bronfman connection, the penthouse, owned by a financier and a psychotherapist, is most notable for its PriceChoppage: it started out asking $36.5 million in 2007 and was asking only $15.9 million when it finally went into contract in March. Earlier speculation placed the purchase price between $13M and $14M in cash, which sounds like a Bronfman kind of move.
