The next building where apartments will be taking a trip to the auction block is One Hanson Place, Brooklyn's formerly tallest building. As the auction date of May 15 nears, there's a little fresh intel on what bidders can expect. We already knew that all six units hitting the block would be penthouses, and now we can add that three of them, rather than the previously advertised two, will be for sale without reserve prices. So what can we expect these penthouses, which range from 2,100 to 3,300 square feet plus additional terrace space, to go for?
The auction team tells us the bidding will start at $1 million for 2BR and 3BR units, $1.5 million for 4BR units, and $2 million for apartment 26A, a 4BR with a terrace. Of course, three of the penthouses up for grabs still have reserve prices, which aren't the same as the starting bids. At their peak, these particular units were asking $3.75 million to $5.875 million, but the closing prices in the building have been much lower. Given that, any predictions for the auction results?
