There are so many rats at the empty lot at 33 East 1st Street that Animal Planet once went there to film a rodent special. And what's the best way to fight rodents? Art! (Duh.) As was rumored earlier, the Guggenheim Museum will be opening an art pop-up on the lot in August. The pop-up, which will later travel around the world, was designed by Curbed obsession Atelier Bow-Wow and will consist of what DNAinfo calls a "deconstructable, carbon-fiber-made 'toolbox.'" We don't really know what that means, but it sounds fun.
