Rich Guy Ready to Try Again at 50 Gramercy Park North

New, 3 comments

With all the chicken wings, Ikea furniture, and energy cleansings at 50 Gramercy Park North, it's almost a relief to come across a listing that's just a nice apartment. And so we have #9B, a 3BR, 3.5BA that's also "the only apartment in the building with spectacular views of Gramercy Park from the master suite." It was purchased in 2007 for $9,062,425 by Thomas Marsico, the 321st richest American as of 2008. When it comes to the resale, you'd think a guy that wealthy wouldn't have to worry.
But Marsico's first attempt to flip the apartment in June 2008, with an ask of $11.5 million, failed. He changed brokerages and lowered the price to $9.95 million on September 19, 2008, four days after the fall of Lehman. Then, in an uh-oh moment we can see happening on the apartment's StreetEasy page, the listing was pulled three days later. Now is the first time it's back, with a new ask of $10.2 million.
