Pier 35 at LES Waterfront Starts Work, Gets New Renderings

New, 5 comments

It's been a while since we heard from ol' Pier 35 on the East River downtown. Bowery Boogie reports that work has begun at the site and is expected to be done by the end of the year. During a community board meeting yesterday, there were some updated renderings of the "recreational" area coming courtesy of SHoP. The site will be made up of "a pavilion with seating, bike racks, water fountains, half basketball courts, and Petanque (lazy man’s Bocce). But presenters seemed quite amped about the riverfront “lookouts,” which will enable pedestrians to descend closer to the cesspool of the East River." Nothing like breathing in that refreshing East River air after a game of Bocce!
