Brooklyn's Priciest Pad Hits Rental Market for $50,000/Month

New, 10 comments

It's been two months since the triplex penthouse in Dumbo's One Main Street, known as the Clocktower Building for its many clock faces, returned to market for $23.5 million, a slightly less eye-popping price than the $25 million it was asking in 2009. Now the listing brokers, Selling New York stars the Kleier crew, are trying a different tactic: the apartment is officially also on the rental market, asking $50,000/month. Brownstoner points out that this would keep the penthouse at the top of Brooklyn's priciest list, since the next most expensive rental in the borough is 11 Cranberry Street, at only $22,000/month. Still, the asking rent is lower than the $60,000/month a Two Trees exec predicted last summer, when a rental deal for the 7,000-square-foot penthouse appeared imminent. Hey, maybe some kind of rent-to-own deal could be worked out this time.
