What Does an Artist's Loft in SoHo Actually Look Like These Days?

New, 10 comments

With all the hoopla over the artist-in-residence zoning in SoHo, we figured we'd take a look and see what's on the market for not-so-starving artists in the area. This one fit the bill pretty well, a 5,000 square foot loft at 46 Mercer Street. According to the listing it's laid out as "an art gallery and private living loft, with a door separation for extra privacy." Not a lot of high end or fancy finishes here in this $7,395,000 unit. There isn't even full air conditioning! It's, dare we say, rustic? Perfect for someone looking to push the paintbrush while gazing at the dark center of their loft building from the terrace.
