That's right Williamsburg, the beloved palindromic 11211 zip code for much of the prime Bedford Avenue area of Williamsburg is being lameified to 11249. A tipster actually believed the whole thing was a hoax, but alas it is the sad truth. The shift is going to go into effect on 7/1/2011 so residents don't have too much time to mourn, there are address adjustments to be made! We called the phone number of the Postal Service representative given in the letter, but she's out of the office until June 8th. According to the letter sent the change is due to a "large increase in population and in the number of companies doing business in our area."
