Soho's The Constable Will See You Now, for $6,000/Month

New, 20 comments

Southern Soho along Canal Street is just getting better and better, isn't it? The arrival of the (slightly delayed) boutique rental at 53 Howard Street aka The Constable is imminent, with occupancy beginning July 1st. The building, a 154 year-old former fabrics store, has been converted to a 17-unit rental. These rentals aren't cheap though, they range from $6,000-$9,000/month. The developer's justification? They say "Rarely does one come across a property so quintessentially Soho that is brought to market intentionally as a rental building, offering those who choose not to buy a unique opportunity to live a loft lifestyle in the heart of this exciting neighborhood.” Anyway, who can forget that lower Soho is the next big thing?
We like what we see of the apartments, although the heating units are bound to agitate a handful of people, and the kitchens aren't going to wow anyone. The flooring and columns might compensate, and the exterior of the building is pretty handsome as well. Doesn't seem like it'll be too difficult to get these 17 units rented out.
