The Brooklyn Academy of Music has agreed to curate about a half dozen shows per year for the 18,000 seat Barclays Arena at Atlantic Yards. The universally beloved Bruce Ratner adds “I always like to put things that are a little bit ironic together.” Maybe he hopes the move will strengthen the arena's community ties, but we're not holding our breath. Battle for Brooklyn director Michael Galinsky adds “this is a much greater benefit to Ratner from this P.R. perspective than it is to BAM.” [NYT]
